Bakers traces its origins back to the 1930s, when a baker named William Brooke would often bring leftover bread scraps home to his dog. Mr. Brooke noticed his dog loved the crunchy ends and baked crusts more than anything else. Inspired, he began baking nutritious dog biscuits using premium ingredients.
Word of the tasty biscuits spread around town, and people started asking to buy them for their own dogs. Sensing an opportunity, Mr. Brooke founded a small company called Bakers Complete Dog Foods in Stoke-on-Trent, England in 1939.
The business grew quickly thanks to the exceptional quality of the recipes. By the 1950s, Bakers expanded into wet dog food and launched its popular Meaty Meals tinned range. Bakers continued adding innovative new products over the following decades, including specialist formulas tailored to puppies, senior dogs, and dogs with specific health conditions.
In 1994, Bakers was acquired by the Pedigree Petfoods company, allowing our products to reach even more dog lovers. Today Bakers makes tasty, nourishing food and treats for over 8 million dogs across the world!
